Preparing Your Vehicle to Tow Your Camping Trailer

Here at Autoline of VA, we understand how much Chantilly, VA families enjoy taking out their campers during the warmer months. In order to keep everybody safe on the road, we have put together this handy guide to preparing your vehicle for towing.

Before you ever leave your driveway, you should inspect all of the key components on your vehicle and your trailer. You should check your engine, your brakes, your tires, and your steering. If you notice anything off, you should ensure that you get it fixed before you leave.

You must also ensure that your vehicle is equipped with the right hitch type. For reference, Hitch Class 1 can tow up to 2,000 lbs, Hitch Class 2 can tow up to 3,500 lbs, Hitch Class 3 can tow up to 8,000 lbs, and Hitch Class 4/5 can handle up to 18,000 lbs.
