How to Respond if You're in an Accident

At Autoline of VA, it's one of our goals to help keep Chantilly, VA drivers and their passengers safe. Unfortunately, automobile accidents do happen, and if you're involved in an accident, then follow these tips so that you're prepared.

Make sure that you always drive with your driver's license and insurance card. As soon as you stop the vehicle, check to see if anyone is injured. If any individuals involved in the collision need medial attention, promptly call emergency services.

Move to a safe location before you exchange information with the other driver. If possible, drive your vehicle to the emergency lane, and turn your hazard lights on so that you're more noticeable. When you're involved in an accident, the law states that you must contact the police. It's also important to take pictures of the scene, and if there are any witnesses, try to get their contact information. You'll also need to notify your insurance company as soon as possible.
